I don't know that I've ever really experienced severe time changes. The only other time I think I might have was going to the east coast when I was in 5th grade and I only vaguely remember the trip. But red eye flights PLUS time changes is just terrible. The first flight out of Sacramento left me with only 2 hours of sleep (mostly due to my neighbor who had serious personal space issues in her sleep). Luckily because we got in so early I was able to nap for a few hours before our orientation started and slept a solid 10 hours that night.
The next morning I still felt terrible, and even when I boarded my plane to London I was still off. The. Of course I got hardly any sleep on that flight because it was so early compares to when I normally sleep, let alone factoring in West Coast time. I did have a row to myself in what I am calling 'middle class' seats- not economy, not first class. But I could get used to this!
I have no idea how I wound up with those seats, I didn't upgrade or pick the nicer seats. But I'll take it! I need to travel more just for this kind of luxury!
I'm in Heathrow now, and boy could I stay here forever! The new terminal is HUGE and has anything you could possibly want! Security was a breeze, and I'm not sure if it was because it's a new terminal made to handle the traffic or if it's because it was 6:30 in the morning.
I could tell I was headed the right direction by the collection of fellow travelers wearing yarmulkas and other traditional Jewish attire (I don't know what the ones with the big hats are, or with the headscarves with boxes on their foreheads. I know I'm a terrible person for saying that but I honestly don't know).
I'm hoping with little sleep and landing at 3:30 Israeli time i will just be able to crash tonight and get adjusted fairly quickly. I'm so excited to finally get there! Already I've seen a city Celine a layer if clouds light up the clouds an eerie yellow and orange, lighting flashing in the clouds around me, even the bolts shooting out of the cloud out my window! This morning I watched the sun rise over Britain with colors you can't describe or capture on a camera. I tried, and it comes no where close. It's been so amazing so far, and can't wait for more!!
Excuse the typos, I'm trying to get this up before boarding starts and still grab some coffee. I'll fix them all later :)
